New World Diasporas

This series seeks to engage, stimulate, and construct critical perspectives on processes of diaspora and diasporic practices emerging from within and radiating through the space of the Americas. We welcome proposals for original, provocative research grounded in anthropological and sociological perspectives that address the ways in which movement—symbolic and physical—impacts conceptualizations and mobilizations surrounding issues of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, voluntary and forced migrations, transnationalism, trade networks, real and imagined homelands, and the utilization of the past to serve claims to belonging in the present. Engagement with related disciplinary perspectives is welcome.
